Understanding the fare
The ¥220,000 shown is a sample fare for arranging this itinerary with a medium bus (20 people, 13.5 hours).
The bus, driver, fuel and vehicle insurance are included, and the amount stays the same if your group grows or shrinks within the seating capacity.
Expressway tolls to Fukui Prefecture, parking fees at stops such as Maruoka Castle, and driver accommodation are not included in the fare and are charged separately at actual cost. Looking for driver accommodation within about 10 minutes or 5 km one way of your own accommodation helps keep the cost down.
Weekends and peak seasons cost more than weekdays: about 20% higher as a rough guideline. If you tell us the date, times and addresses of the stops, we will prepare a quotation for your itinerary.
Choosing the bus
A medium bus seats 27–33, the right size for this itinerary with 20 people.
The luggage compartment holds about 20 suitcases (a guideline).
Going 1 size up to a large bus gives more room for seats and luggage, but the fare is higher.
With a slightly smaller group, you could also choose a small bus (21–25 seats) to keep the fare down. Some small buses have no luggage compartment, so please let us know how much luggage you have.
FAQ
- Do we need to arrange the driver's accommodation?
- Driver accommodation is charged separately from the bus fare, and we ask you to provide a private room with bedding. The cost rises if it is far from your accommodation, so as a guideline, keep it within 10 minutes or 5 km one way.
- What should we do about the driver's lunch?
- In most cases, customers arrange it. If you tell the restaurant how many drivers there are, it may be able to prepare meals for the drivers. This is not mandatory.
- Can we change destinations on a rainy day?
- As a rule, national operating regulations do not allow itinerary changes on the day. Cancelling because of the weather is treated as a customer-side cancellation and is subject to cancellation fees, so it helps to plan a rainy-day itinerary in advance.
