Understanding the fare

The sample fare for this itinerary is ¥272,800 (large bus, 35 people, 11 hours).

The bus, driver, fuel and vehicle insurance are included, and the amount stays the same if your group grows or shrinks within the seating capacity.

Expressway tolls to the Kinugawa area, parking fees at stops such as Nikko Toshogu Shrine, and driver accommodation are charged separately at actual cost. Looking for driver accommodation within about 10 minutes or 5 km one way of your own accommodation helps keep the cost down.

On weekends, public holidays and in peak seasons, expect about 20% higher than on weekdays as a guideline. If you tell us the date, times and addresses of the stops, we will prepare a quotation for your itinerary.

Choosing the bus

A large bus seats 48–60 including jump seats, the right size for this itinerary with 35 people.

The luggage compartment holds about 30 suitcases (a guideline).

A medium bus (27–33 seats) cannot carry all 35 people.

FAQ

Do we need to arrange the driver's accommodation?
Driver accommodation is charged separately from the bus fare, and we ask you to provide a private room with bedding. The cost rises if it is far from your accommodation, so as a guideline, keep it within 10 minutes or 5 km one way.
What should we do about the driver's lunch?
In most cases, customers arrange it. If you tell the restaurant how many drivers there are, it may be able to prepare meals for the drivers. This is not mandatory.
Can we change destinations on a rainy day?
As a rule, national operating regulations do not allow itinerary changes on the day. Cancelling because of the weather is treated as a customer-side cancellation and is subject to cancellation fees, so it helps to plan a rainy-day itinerary in advance.
