Understanding the fare

The sample fare for this itinerary is ¥234,300 (medium bus, 24 people, 11 hours).

The fare covers 1 medium bus with a driver, fuel and vehicle insurance.

Expressway tolls to the Hakone area, parking fees at stops such as Ikebukuro, and driver accommodation are not included in the fare and are charged separately at actual cost. Looking for driver accommodation within about 10 minutes or 5 km one way of your own accommodation helps keep the cost down.

Weekends and peak seasons cost more than weekdays: about 20% higher as a rough guideline. Fares are based on the driver's working hours and the distance driven, so even a 30-minute change in times may change the fare.

Choosing the bus

24 people fit comfortably in a medium bus (27–33 seats).

The luggage compartment holds about 20 suitcases (a guideline).

If you have a lot of luggage or want more room in the seats, you can also choose a large bus. The fare is higher accordingly.

Depending on the vehicle, a small bus (21–25 seats) may not fit 24 people, so check the number of seats before deciding.

FAQ

Do we need to arrange the driver's accommodation?
Driver accommodation is charged separately from the bus fare, and we ask you to provide a private room with bedding. The cost rises if it is far from your accommodation, so as a guideline, keep it within 10 minutes or 5 km one way.
What should we do about the driver's lunch?
In most cases, customers arrange it. If you tell the restaurant how many drivers there are, it may be able to prepare meals for the drivers. This is not mandatory.
How far in advance should we book?
If a bus is available, we accept bookings up to 3 days before. Cancellation fees apply from 15 days before the date of use, so we recommend reserving early once your date is set.
